Regional Focus
Midwestern undergraduate
colleges have been responsible for most of the innovations of recent years.
The Common Application, now used by more than 150 colleges including Harvard,
was originated more than 30 years ago by the Associated colleges of the
Midwest.
A change of location can be an important part of the college experience. Additionally, schools outside of New England can be "Admission Bargains" or easier to get into than they would be if located in New England. A higher admit rate, however, does not mean a lower academic standard. Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, for example, are home to numerous liberal arts schools with top ranking programs.

"The college selection process does not have to be
inherently stressful. 80% of colleges accept over 80% of their applicants.
Every student has college choices. There are no 'good' or 'bad' colleges,
only colleges that are good for YOU. The real task is finding them." —
